William NEVER sleeps...

Noooooo, he's really a very good sleeper. Sometimes he's a little eager to go to sleep. I think this means there's going to be an early bedtime...

Awwww, he's so cute and cuddly.

Another catch up session...

So, I got my hard drive finally, so now I can store 250GB of pictures of my children. Yay!

William's birthday was a few weeks ago. There wasn't a lot to take pictures of, but here is one of Pippa blowing out his candles on his very plain looking chocolate chip birthday cake. They ate cake for breakfast.

We have also been trying to visit some of the local sites. A 10 minute south drive takes us to the most spectacular volcanic scenery, so on Labor Day we decided to go up to Lava Butte. Pippa LOVED walking around the paths and seeing all the lava rocks. She has a love of rocks and hiking right now, so she was in her element. Lava Butte is a cinder cone in the middle of a field of black lava. Pretty cool to see. Next, I think we'll go a little further into the park and go see the lava cast forest and Newberry Crater.

We spend a lot of time at home playing during the week, so here is Pippa monkeying around with her plate...

And, Pippa loves to walk in my shoes even though they are a little big!

We also play with Duplo Lego blocks a lot. It is so much fun and we build all sorts of zoos. We do this EVERY DAY. :)

Look for my next blog about our hike around Todd Lake. It is another beautiful place in Central Oregon...and we held frogs!

The Musical Prodigy

We went to Working Wonders, the Children's "Museum" in Bend the other day. Both Pippa and William loved it - William thought the sandbox full of colored rice was a riot, and Pippa found a guitar she didn't want to put down.

In addition to the guitar playing, Pippa is a FABULOUS singer! She knows
nearly all the words to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. The words she doesn't know she just improvises.

Also, an update on the new walker. He has pretty much stopped crawling as he has realized walking is the best. He follows me and Pippa everywhere practicing his walk. He has to keep it slow to catch his balance occasionally, but I think I only saw him crawl once today.

Well done, Illum (Pippa calls him illum, if you listen carefully in the video "play with Illum")! You are officially walking before your first birthday!

Will-ham Walker Talker

My little baby boy is walking.

Okay, so right now he crawls to get places, however about 50 times a day he stands up and takes some steps
just for fun. He seems to think it is the coolest thing, but I guess it helps that I also think it is the coolest thing and just egg him on and clap when he tries. He so wants to be doing what Pippa is doing (which is everything), and he seems to realize that walking will be a crucial turning point in achieving this goal.

Baby Steps!

We have had another really busy week. We've been in Portland for a few nights with Nick as he had to go do some work there, we were at Kah-nee-tah for a night for Nick's work bbq, and inbetween we are searching for a new car. Tomorrow, Auntie Becky and Mort arrive for a visit from England, so lots still to do!

Pippa and William are still fabulous. Pippa continues to amaze us and William is loving his legs. He has been standing for a while now, but this week he decided to take his first unsupported steps! Now he keeps standing up in the middle of the room and stepping. I think he's at 3 steps before he lowers himself down. It looks like he may be walking before his birthday, which is in only 2 weeks. I can't believe he's 1 already!

I'll post some photos of all the fun we've had in the last week later. Right now I have no children who need my attention, so I'm going to use that time to clean up a little.
